Hopewell Furnace teaching wall

This was a Dry Stone Conservancy teaching program, rebuilding a dry stone retaining wall along a former raceway at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. Programs like it pass the craft on the only way it travels: hands on real stone, on a real wall that has to stand.

No site photographs from the program survive in the archive. The entry is kept here for the record because the teaching work is part of how the practice was formed.
